Kim Delaney was an American actor from the United States. She is most famous for her role as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC drama series NYPD Blue. For this she was awarded an Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her performances on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. As the sole daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. In her early years she longed to be a reporter for the court. However, after graduating from high school, and moving to New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first role as an actor was as a teenage innocent on All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous films television movies and dramas. Her career as a professional has been more successful than her private life. The talented actor has struggled with alcoholism and has had two marriages that failed. In 2005, the actress lost the custody of her son.
