Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and traveled extensively together with President Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
